Facebook Triples Lobbying Spending, Google Doubles

Over the past year, Facebook and Google stepped up their lobbying efforts.  The First Street Research Group decided to take a quick look at their spending over the past year.

Facebook has tripled its spending on lobbying from Q3 2010 to Q3 2011:

Client  Filing   # of Issues Quarter  Amount Lobbying Report
Facebook Inc. 6 2011 3Q  $  360,000.00 LD2
Facebook Inc. 6 2011 2Q  $  320,000.00 LD2
Facebook Inc. 7 2011 1Q  $  230,000.00 LD2
Facebook Inc. 4 2010 4Q  $  130,000.00 LD2
Facebook Inc. 4 2010 3Q  $  120,000.00 LD2

While Google has nearly doubled its spending on lobbying from Q3 2010 to Q3 2011:

Client  Filing   # of Issues Quarter  Amount Lobbying Report
Google Inc. 12 2011 3Q  $  2,380,000.00 LD2
Google Inc. 12 2011 2Q  $  2,060,000.00 LD2
Google Inc. 12 2011 1Q  $  1,480,000.00 LD2
Google Inc. 11 2010 4Q  $  1,240,000.00 LD2
Google Inc. 12 2010 3Q  $  1,200,000.00 LD2

Google still far outweighs Facebook in what its spends on lobbying, but both companies are ramping up their lobbying efforts.

let’s see, face book has had phenomenal success in collecting-Oops i mean attracting
visitors/socialists on the site but good things eventually come to an end.Meaning i’m aware that face book literally surrendered/gave federal law enforcement(and everybody else)complete and total access to private information,no notification that they were going to do it-just here you go.Now personally i my self don’t socialize on the web site at all !!! i just felt a short while back this website has a little too much going on here.THEN about a month ago i read about what they did with everyone’s information!! so i’m glad i didn’t mix myself in that busy-body foolishness!! and good riddance!!!!

and far as google is concerned, they’re just afraid of being left behind!! but SERIOUSLY
i look for face book and google to put pressure on myspace with possibly a BUYOUT/
ACQUISITION / MERGER that business masquerade always works, one or the other will claim the company was attractive and / or had client base or reach potential. But in truth they’ll acquire them out of greed and/or to stiffen the competition between the two….so good luck” myspace” and try not to become “their space”….
